2008 NHTS
The 2008 NHTS represents the largest household travel survey in the world. The survey is sponsored by the FHWA and 20 Add-on partners.
Schedule and Sample Size
- Data collection period is April, 2008 – May, 2009
- Public Use Dataset will be released in January 2010
- There will be 155,000 households intervewed with 25,000 in the National sample and 130,00 in Add-on areas
2008 NHTS Add-On Participants
The Add-on program provides the opportunity for states and MPOs to purchase additional samples for their respective areas.

Public Use Dataset Contains Add-on Interviews
- The enhanced interviewing in the 20 Add-on Areas will be included on the 2008 Public Use Dataset allowing the user to approach these areas as case studies.
