MAKING IT USEABLE    Weighting       Which Weights To Use

The weight to be used depends on the source of the data item being reported

• If a data item is from the person file, then the person weight
  should be used.

Example: Workers by Usual Mode and Gender

• Similarly, if the data item is from the travel-day file, the weight from that file should be used, if the data item was not present
  in the person file.

Example: Person Trips by Age and Vehicle Availability

For data items that are replicated in different files, it is important to use the weight in the "parent" file. We will look at a detailed example and exercise in the following pages.
